Open burning of dry yard waste is allowed in East Peoria starting Thursday, October 15 and continuing through Monday, November 30. Those burning brush and yard waste must follow the rules, including only burning vegetation and only during daylight hours.
Halloween door-to-door trick-or-treating will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday, October 31. Residents wanting to participate should turn on their front door lights. All children should be back home by 8 p.m. and are encouraged to visit their own neighborhoods.
For those on the run during the holidays, enter the Festival of Lights' 30th FOLEPI River Trail Classic, set for Saturday, November 28. The 4-mile competitive race will feature a staggered start to comply with COVID-19 crowd size requirements.
Maps are available of the detour when Interstate 74 is closed to replace the bridge deck on the Murray Baker Bridgeover the Illinois River. This will be a seven-month bridge closure so residents are encouraged to start planning alternate routes now.
