The East Peoria Community Foundation is hosting a Construction Celebration for the second phase of Levee Park at noon Thursday, April 28. Set in the heart of the Levee District – adjacent to City Hall and Fondulac District Library – Levee Park is destined to become a main attraction for residents and visitors to the region. The public is invited to attend, and free refreshments will be served.

With construction beginning in April, Phase II brings vital infrastructure, completion of public restrooms, and a performance stage. Funded by generous community donations and a $500,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity, Phase II construction will be completed by the end of Fall 2022. The existing Reading Garden, which opened in 2018, was the first project for the East Peoria Community Foundation and the first phase of Levee Park.

Brought to the City by the East Peoria Community Foundation, future plans for Levee Park include a splash pad, shaded seating areas, and more green space. About $1 million is needed to complete this last phase. The Foundation is seeking donations from the community and area companies to help raise the funds needed to finish the park. Levee Park will be family-friendly, provide space for community gatherings, and become the new iconic face of East Peoria.

Established in 2014, the East Peoria Community Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and welcomes donations and sponsorships for Levee Park. For more information, visit www.eastpeoriacommunityfoundation.org.
