[ARCHIVED] Public feedback sought on bridge pedestrian, bike accommodations

Bridge over a river

The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 9 at East Peoria City Hall, 401 W Washington Street, to introduce a study for improved pedestrian and bicycle accommodations on the Bob Michel Bridge carrying Illinois 40 over the Illinois River.

The study limits follow Illinois 40 from the intersection at Southwest Adams Street in Peoria to River Road/Tractor Drive in East Peoria as part of the upcoming bridge deck rehabilitation project.
An informal, open house-style meeting will introduce the project through displays and materials for viewing, and IDOT personnel  will be available to explain project details and answer questions. No formal presentation will be given.

East Peoria City Hall is accessible to those with disabilities. State COVID guidelines will be followed at the time of the meeting, which may require precautions including facemasks, social distancing and room occupancy limitations.

Public feedback is sought and comments may be made in person, submitted online electronically on the project website at www.bobmichelbridge.com, or written and mailed to: Mark Otten, IDOT, 401 N Main Street, Peoria, IL 61602.
Following the meeting, displayed materials will be available on the project website. Comments received through Thursday, December 30 will become part of the public meeting record.
