An open house public hearing on the city's sanitary sewer system upgrade project will occur from 4-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 in the conference room at the Civic Complex, 401 W. Washington St. The public hearing will serve as an open forum for the public and ratepayers to comment on the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Project Summary and Preliminary Environmental Impacts Determination (PEID). Those attending will be able to ask questions and provide input on the sanitary sewer system upgrade project, which will repair, replace and modify facilities to address aged and deteriorated infrastructure that is operating beyond its service life while also addressing projected moderate population growth needs. The IEPA Project Summary and PEID will be available for review at City Hall as well as online.
The city and IEPA will also receive written public comments for 10 days after the public hearing, through 5 p.m. Oct. 19. Written comments can be submitted to the East Peoria Public Works Department, 2232 E. Washington St., East Peoria, 61611 or to the East Peoria City Clerk, 401 W. Washington St., East Peoria, IL, or emailed to the city clerk. They can also be submitted to George Lambert, Infrastructure Financial Assistance Section, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Water, 1021 N. Grand Avenue East, P.O. Box 19276, Springfield, IL 62794-9276.
