The Illinois Department of Transportation is repairing the bridge that carries Main Street (U.S. 24) over Farm Creek just west of the Main and Camp Street intersection (the bridge between Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy) from Monday, September 9 through Monday, November 4. The project involves replacing bridge joints and requires lane closures and traffic pattern changes.
Motorists traveling northbound on Main Street are not allowed to make a left turn onto Camp Street. They must follow the posted IDOT detour route utilizing a portion of westbound Interstate 74.
Vehicles should not block any intersections.
The East Peoria Police Department is asking for the public's patience and cooperation to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and construction workers. Police will be monitoring the area to ensure drivers's compliance with the traffic changes.
Motorists can expect long delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered.
