Household Waste Disposal Solutions
There are many items in our homes that residents do not know how to dispose of correctly. Some are allowed to be disposed of in regular household garbage and others must be disposed of in a manner that will protect the environment.
You may view the Household Waste Chart which provides additional guidelines for effective disposal of household waste.

Household Items
Many household items should not be disposed of with regular garbage removal. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency lists many items that are taken at one-day collection events. The collection sites are listed on the following web page: www.epa.state.il.us/land/hazardous-waste/household-haz-waste/hhwc-acceptable.html This will give a list of items that are accepted as well as those that are not accepted.
