Garbage Toters Available!

The Department of Public Works is now offering a 95-gallon toter, a 65-gallon toter and a 35-gallon toter for purchase. These containers are similar to the garbage containers East Peoria residents can currently lease from Waste Management.

Prices
  • 96-gallon toter - $78
  • 65-gallon toter - $66
  • 35-gallon toter - $49

The price is at the department's cost and each container has a 10-year warranty. If the container becomes inoperable, the department will replace it within the 10-year warranty period.

Paying for Toters

Click the E-Pay logo to purchase your toter  online!

Residents can now purchase a toter online, using our secure, convenient system provided through the Illinois State Treasurer's Office. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard. No additional fees are charged for paying online.

Toters are also available by making a payment in person at the Public Works Department, 2232 E. Washington St., East Peoria. The container may be taken at the time of purchase, or it can be delivered for free by Public Works employees.

Recycling

Residents are provided up to two containers and lids at no charge.
If additional containers are required the cost is $14.00 for each container.

Currently, 54 percent of East Peoria's 7,800 households are participating in the recycling program.

Aluminum cans, tin cans, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, white milk jugs, cardboard boxes, and plastic containers with the designation
1-5 and 7 (with the exception of oil bottles) on them will be accepted.  Currently glass is not accepted.

As with garbage pick-up, items picked up are limited to normal household refuse.

Recyclables are picked up weekly on your regular garbage day. They must be set at the curb no later than 5 a.m. Recyclables should be rinsed out, lids should be removed from plastic containers and cardboard boxes must be broken down flat.
