WAITLIST APPLICATIONS INFORMATION
The only program offered by the East Peoria Housing Authority is Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. Currently our waitlist is closed and we are NOT accepting applications under any circumstances. We open our aplication process as needed. We took applications on Sept. 9, 2009 and are starting to get through all the names on that list. We anticipate opening our list sometime before the end of the year 2013. To find out when our application process is open we recommend the following:

Check back with our office periodically. It would be best to contact us by telephone and listen to OPTION 1. Complete information is provided on a recorded message. We will also post information on this webpage.

You may also check the local newspapers. We publish a public notice in the East Peoria Times Courier which runs on Wednesday and in the Peoria Journal Star on Sunday, 1 week prior to the application date.

You may also drop off a self-addressed, stamped envelope that we will hold onto until we determine the day applications shall be accepted. We will then mail back to you in your envelope the information about when, where and how to make an application.

The East Peoria Housing Authority (EPHA) operates a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program with funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Eligible persons rent from a private landlord on the open market. The EPHA helps program participants pay the rent to their landlord. To qualify, the household income must be below the EPHA income guidelines. Each housing unit, whether it is a house, apartment or mobile home, is inspected for minimum compliance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS). Current funding permits participation of 195 clients. Landlords are responsible for screening potential tenants for suitability and are permitted to utilize their own lease agreement. There is a Housing Assistance Contract signed between the East Peoria Housing Authority and the Landlord.

The East Peoria Housing Authority provides an opportunity for lower income East Peoria residents to receive financial rental help, satisfying a basic need, and allowing for a greater quality of life for their family than their income would otherwise permit.

The East Peoria Housing Authority will provide resources and support to strengthen self-worth and reinforce self-esteem, ultimately benefiting the children.

The East Peoria Housing Authority will provide financial relief to the elderly and disabled who often live on fixed incomes, thus giving them the means to afford decent, safe and sanitary housing.
Waitlist Information
Participants must apply to have their name placed on a waitlist. Clients are selected from that list. There is no emergency housing through this agency.
